The ship provides a beautiful backdrop for photographs. When Mercy Ships needs to do a highlight story on a crew member, the media team takes that person out in front of the ship to take photos. Well, as one of many Americans on board, the chances of my home office taking pictures of me in front of the ship were very slim. So, I rounded up a group of friends and we traipsed around the port to a sandy spot in front of the gorgeous ship we call home and we conducted a mini-photoshot.

The Togolese Navy is the next-door neighbors.
Of course we attached an interested crowd in the port.
My lovely friend Jess-
This picture is for when we are 80 and can't remember what we looked like
when we were young and having adventures in Africa.
My Wonderful co-workers, but more than that, my friends.
Shannon, my Canadian Bunkmate/Friend/Co-worker
& Ilse, my Dutch OR nurse/Friend
As it turns out, I needed Africa more than Africa needed me. :)
