My flights went fine and there were no problems getting into the country. My friend Jess met me in the airport! It took only a few minutes to drive to the ship; we didn't get to see much of the city because it was dark, but it was Africa. I forgot how much I have missed this crazy place!
After we got on the ship we had to go through an initial orientation and finally made it to our cabin at like 2330. I had a meeting at 0745, I got up and barely made it to breakfast. I found the meeting by wandering around and then wandered around the ship until I found the OR. I had orientation in the OR in the morning. Then I was able to unpack, get a tour, go to the bank, pick up a few things at the shop, and get my laptop registered for wireless (which I have to sit in the hall to use).
There really is constant noise and movement and people. However, everyone has been super nice. It is very overwhelming with the amount of change and lack of sleep, but getting unpacked helped me feel more settled.
I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend to rest (at the pool and beach) before I start work on Monday (and take call that night). :)
I will take some pics of my bunk soon!
